A bit about Katie...
Katie is a born educator. It is her purpose.
As a student who struggled with confidence herself, and having a few teachers help coax it out of her, Katie's passion is helping students see their own potential so that they can bring that confidence into their work. That is what KAC is about.
After a decade in the classroom in CT public schools and NYC private schools as an English teacher, Learning Specialist, and Reading Specialist, Katie started her business to help students become confident, independent learners. Over time, she started to work with upper grades students, specifically in writing and executive functioning. This flourished into clients returning year after year to continue their learning journey and hone their writing and executive functioning skills. To date, Katie has worked with students from Avenues, Horace Mann, Fieldston, Riverdale, and Marymount (to name a few)!
Now, 4 years later, Katie has refined her methodology with a focus on:

building rapport in a trusting environment (we grow by taking risks!)

meeting students where they are (think individualized lessons tailored to each student's needs)

evidence based strategies (in reading, writing, and executive functioning)

being productive and enjoying the journey (who wants to dread extra help?)
